Google announced that no anonymous user or the users who have never created goo.gl links will not be able to create Google shorten links from April 13th, 2018. As the report says, Google will discontinue goo.gl short links from 30 March 2019. But during this period of time, all the existing user will be able to use all the features of the goo.gl console But no new users can register.
The reason behind shutting down goo.gl
Google is focusing on their resources on a new technology called Firebase Dynamic Links (FDL). FDL is a short linking technology that bridges the mobile app environments and web, it provides a seamless path between them. So, the user using FDL can provide a deep link to any location in your app.
What will goo.gl users do?
There are some alternative ways for goo.gl users. All the users can use alternative URL shortener programs. There are some most popular URL shorteners like Bit.ly or Ow.ly. Users will also able to use google’s FDL program in near future.
